Friday Blog Hop (13) Follow Friday (13)

Friday Blog Hop is hosted by Jenn at Crazy-For-Books.   It is a weekend long Book Party giving bloggers a chance to get to know each other and access to new blogs that we all might enjoy! If you haven't stopped by to give the hop a look I highly suggest that you do! Also every week there is a new question posted for us at answer this weeks question is...

“When did you realize reading was your passion and a truly important part of your life?”

I'm not sure there was ever a time where they weren't an important part of my life.  I was always reading or being read to, I have always loved books.  While a trip to the toy store might have been looked at as unnecessary if I said "Mom, can we go to the book store?" We were usually in the car in less than 5 minutes and on our way to the book store.  I appreciate that my mother never tried to take my books away, or tell me they were an unnecessary purchase, and I hope that one day my daughter will love them as well!

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee, every week we all get together to answer a question and find new blogs that we enjoy. This weeksson

Q. In light of the Summer Solstice. Also known as Midsummer...let's talk about fairies. What is your favorite fairy tale or story that revolves around the fae?

I have always been a Disney Littler Mermaid fan, even to this day I LOVE that movie!! The Hans Christian Anderson version use to make me cry though =o(

I'm not sure I can pick just one favorite novel about the Fae, they are one of my favorite things to read about! I will try to make a list of my top 5 favorites!
1. Merry Gentry Series - Laurell K Hamilton
2. Dark Swan - Richelle Mead
3. Iron Fae - Julie Kagawa
4. Faeriewalker - Jenna Black
5. Fever Series - Karen Marie Mooning

  3. Old follower just stopping by. :) The original versions of fairy tales always made me sad, too! So I stick to the Disney versions.
And that's so cool that your mom always encouraged your love of books. I want to do that with my kids.
    Happy Friday!

  5. The book store is where my kids ask to go most often. That and the library.

I realized how important books had become in my life in 1999. Come see what happened.

  8. Hopping through. When I was a kid, my mother used to have to intersperse stops at the mall bookstore in between clothes shopping. I needed my book fix.

  9. I know. My mom was always making sure there were books in the house and when money was tight, she made sure she got me to the library. I'm not planning on having kids any time soon, but books are something I love sharing with my nephew. He's six and already loves to read. It makes my heart so happy.
