Top 10 Books Read in 2012

Top 10 of 2012 is hosted by A Life Bound By Books Blog. Today's post is Top 10 Books we've read in 2012. Well this isn't an easy list to come up with. I have read so many good books this year!

Honorable Mentions:

While I did do my fair share of paranormal reading this appears to be the year of the contemporary for me. I do look forward to diving deeper into this genre, and a few others I tend to neglect.

Here's to the future!

Ok so I haven't been here in a while. Things have been busy here. Earlier this month on the 5th I got married to the best man I have ever met, I spent some time with my mom who was here from Florida for the wedding. Then we got some pretty cool news, we found out that we are expecting a baby. Unfortunately that also came along with my starting to feel really horrible and lacking any kind of motivation to get out of bed. Thankfully I am starting to feel much better and much more like a person again. So I am working on getting some posts scheduled and such and I am quite behind on writing my reviews for what I have been reading the past month, but The Book Addict will be back. We will begin normal posting again very soon and I look forward to it so much. I missed the blog and I look forward to getting more active in the community and really getting to know some of you guys!

Shelf Love (07) Everneath Series - Brodi Ashton

So I started this feature a while back, but life got kind of hectic for a while and it kind of fell off my radar. I am however quite happy to be bringing it back. I am a sucker for a great cover, or a great set of covers, since I don't have very much room to keep a large physical bookshelf this is my way of enjoying the great covers that I've come across. If you guys feel like showing off your favorite covers/cover sets you love just leave a comment below and I'll come check it out =o)

My pick this week is...

When I saw the cover for Everneath when it was first revealed I fell in love. I knew I HAD to read this book no matter what reviews said (even though they were all good hehe) I was so caputred by the beauty of the cover. When Everbound's cover was revealed I fell equally in love. I love the smoke surrounding the girl I think it gives it the right amount of creepy. I also like how the girl is now wearing black, I love when book covers all have a similar feel but something as small as a clothing color change can give each book a different feel. These are 2 that I would love to have siting on my shelf.

What do you think? Love them? Hate them? Let me know in the comments =o)

Review: Shadow Heir - Richelle Mead

Paperback: 320 pages
Publisher: Bantam (February 1, 2012)
Language: English

Shaman-for-hire Eugenie Markham strives to keep the mortal realm safe from trespassing entities. But as the Thorn Land's prophecy-haunted queen, there's no refuge for her and her soon-to-be-born-children when a mysterious blight begins to devastate the Otherworld...
The spell-driven source of the blight isn't the only challenge to Eugenie's instincts. Fairy king Dorian is sacrificing everything to help, but Eugenie can't trust the synergy drawing them back together. The uneasy truce between her and her shape shifter ex-lover Kiyo is endangered by secrets he can't--or won't--reveal. And as a formidable force rises to also threaten the human world, Eugenie must use her own cursed fate as a weapon--and risk the ultimate sacrifice.

I never tried to hid the fact that I am a huge Mead fangirl. I can't get enough of her books. And his was always my favorite series. Eugenie seemed to just have impossible situations continually thrust in front of her. I did enjoy seeing he pregnancy unfold, and how she kept herself safe. Watching her make the decision to go to the otherworld to save her people from the blight that is plaguing only certain areas of the otherworld. he whole situation broke my heart. The journey through the otherworld bothered me no because the action or adventure weren't there but because everyday was another day away from the twins. I will say that the ending of this book has me on the fence. I loved this book, and I was mostly happy with the ending because it gave me hope that one day she might write more, maybe not about Eugenie, maybe about the twins either is fine with me. But even if she doesn't ever come back to this series I am still happy with the ending it wasn't all tied up, but it was wrapped up enough to give me closure. I give this book and this series 5 stars!

Review: Obsidian - Jennifer L. Armentrout

Reading level: Ages 15 and up
Paperback: 400 pages
Publisher: Entangled Teen; 2 edition (May 8, 2012)

 Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don't kill him first, that is.

I went into this not expecting much. I thought it might just be really corny. I couldn't be more wrong

Listening to Katy talk about her blog made me smile. A main character who was like me, a big gushy book nered, how could I not love it? When we first meet Dameoon I kinda wanted to punch him. But I quickly fell in love with his sister Dee. And watching Dee and Katy grow closer as friends was nice even though Daemon never lets an opportunity go by to tell Katy that her and Dee shouldn't be friends. I also loved the love/hate between Katy and Daemon. I loved the scenes with them, the tension and feelings really came through. Now lets get to the part you all want to hear about...the Aliens...yeah I know, I feared for the worst too, but I enjoyed the Alien aspect, and the powers we begin to see them demonstrate.

The story really never seemed to slow down once it got started, and kept me reading cause I just had to know what would happen next. I gave this one 4 stars, and really guys go give this a read if you haven't already!

Hello All, I'm Sorry!

Hello everyone, I am so sorry for my extended absence. May is always a busy month for me, between me and my darling husband we have birthdays and anniversaries almost every week (both of our birthdays as well hehe) So its been rough, then my little one got herself strep throat and I was the giant mommy pillow for a while and now I am come down with a nasty upper respiratory infection. I plan to get back to regular posting by the beginning of next week. Right now I'm just not up to sitting at the computer long enough to get things scheduled. Thank you for sticking with me and I promise to be back soon. =o)
