Review: If I Die - Rachel Vincent

  • Reading level:
  •  Young Adult
  • Paperback:
  •  352 pages
  • Publisher:
  •  Harlequin; Original edition (September 27, 2011)
No one wants to be this teacher’s pet . . .
Everyone else is talking about Eastlake High’s gorgeous new math teacher, Mr. Beck, but Kaylee Cavanaugh has bigger things on her mind. Kaylee’s a banshee—her scream is a portent of death.
But the next scream might hit too close to home. Kaylee’s borrowed lifeline has almost run out.
Yeah—it’s a shock to her, too. So to distract herself from her own problems, Kaylee is determined to defend her school against the latest supernatural threat. That hot new teacher is really an incubus, who feeds from the desire of unsuspecting students. The only girls immune to his lure are Kaylee and Sabine, her boyfriend’s delinquent ex-girlfriend. Now the unlikely allies have to get rid of Mr. Beck…before he discovers they aren’t quite human either.
But Kaylee’s running out of time, and those who love her will do anything to save her life.
Anything.
Soul Screamers: The last thing you hear before you die.

My Thoughts...
I LOVE these books, Rachel is one of my favorite authors, I loved her were-cat series, and I love this series too!  Kaylee is in my top 5 favorite characters list.  She manages to find her way into some pretty sticky situations, and this book is no different. Kaylee is living on borrowed time and that time is just about up. As people struggle to find a way to save her Kaylee starts to accept that the end is nearing and concentrates on making things right for the people she is leaving behind, and trying to stop the next paranormal threat to hit the highschool.  She manages to mess a few things up, and turn us all on our ears.  This book really shakes this series up in a few different ways and I liked all of them. I can't wait to see where we go next with these characters.  Where ever we end up I'm sure I won't be disappointed! This one gets 5 stars from me!
