Review: Hexbound - Chole Neill

Reading level: Young Adult
Paperback: 256 pages
Publisher: Signet; Original edition (January 4, 2011)

Lily Parker is new to St. Sophia's School for Girls, but she's already learned that magic can be your best friend-or your worst enemy. That's why Lily has to learn how to control her newly discovered paranormal abilities while fighting the good fight with her best friend Scout as they take on Chicago's nastiest nightlife-including the tainted magic users known as Reapers...

Let me start by saying I LOVE Chole Neill! I am a huge fan of her adult series and when I saw she put out a YA series I rushed out to get the first book, I didn't LOVE it like I did her adult series but I did like it. I thought it was a lot of fun in ways her adult series couldn't be. This wasn't a OMGWTFBBQ! gotta have it the second it comes out for me but I was happy to sit down with it once I got to it.  I enjoyed Lilly and Scout and there friendship reminds me of my  BBF at that age and myself (minus the magic and evil and all the slime).  I also like watching how each girl dealt with there "boy drama"  I liked Lilly's go for it attitude and her willingness to explore her magic. Overall I think this book was good and while I didn't LOVE it, I did like it, I liked it enough to say I will be tuning in next time to see the Brat Pack and see what trouble Lilly and Scout can get into.  Oh!! I have to say on a side not I like the way the "boy drama" is going in this series so far but I am totally feeling something for Sebastion. Not sure where he fits into everything but if he gets a team I'm on it!

I give this book 3.5 stars

  2. Great review! I read the first book in this series and didn't like it to much. But I love Chicagoland Vamps!
